British Columbia establishes Integrated Gang Homicide Team (IGHT) to tackle rising gang-related homicides.

British Columbia has announced the creation of a new gang homicide investigation team, Integrated Gang Homicide Team (IGHT), to address the surge in gang violence and unsolved killings in the region. The 18-member team, set to become operational in late 2024 or early 2025, will focus on complex gang-related homicides and work alongside other agencies. The move follows a rise in gang-related homicides in B.C., which accounted for 46% of homicides in 2023, up from 21% in 2003.
