Amritpal Singh, pro-Khalistani leader detained under NSA, files Lok Sabha nomination from Dibrugarh Jail.
Amritpal Singh, leader of the pro-Khalistani group Waris Punjab De, filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha polls from Dibrugarh Jail in Punjab, where he has been detained since April, under the National Security Act (NSA). Singh has been named as an independent candidate for Punjab's Sri Khadoor Sahib constituency. His nomination papers were filled in by jail authorities as per the law, and, if elected, Singh will be released to take the oath of office, as there is currently no law allowing this to be done inside prison.
