Alberta Utilities Commission fined Energy Sustain Services $10,000 for operating an unlicensed power generator used for bitcoin mining in Brazeau County. This is the third such fine in Alberta over the past year. The facility used natural gas from a well not connected to a pipeline to generate power for 87 bitcoin mining machines. The infraction was discovered through noise complaints from neighbors.
