37-year-old Chinese national Li Ye was charged with the murder of 56-year-old Lim Lai Guan at City Gate Residences condominium along Beach Road. Li, believed to be Lim's girlfriend, appeared in court via video-link and claimed it was manslaughter, not murder. She has been remanded for a week for further investigations, and will return to court on May 16. The victim was found unconscious in the unit and later died in hospital.
