Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia proposed a policy for 100% Ghanaian ownership of natural resources, but Movement for Change leader and independent presidential candidate Alan Kyerematen dismissed the idea as misleading and already enshrined in the 1992 Constitution. Bawumia's policy aims to end foreign mining companies exporting all their earnings and establish a Minerals Development Bank to support local mining projects.
