The UK's NHS continues to face persistently high waiting lists for treatment, despite meeting the 28-day faster diagnosis target for cancer for the second consecutive month. Overall treatment wait times remain elevated, with the number of people waiting for hospital treatment unchanged and the waiting list for routine hospital treatment reaching a record high in September 2023. The targets to eliminate waits over 65 weeks and 52 weeks have been pushed back to September 2024 and March 2025, respectively.
