Syriza leader Stefanos Kasselakis, Greece's first openly gay party leader, plans a Greek wedding ceremony in Chania, Crete, from August 28-31. He and his husband Tyler McBeth had a private wedding in the US in 2020, after Greece legalized same-sex marriage in February 2024. The Greek wedding, in Kasselakis' ancestral village, is a significant event for LGBTQ rights in the Christian Orthodox-majority country.
