Supreme Court of India urges Uttarakhand govt to take immediate measures against wildfires; rain or cloud seeding is insufficient.

The Supreme Court of India has urged the Uttarakhand state government to take immediate and effective measures to combat wildfires, emphasizing that relying on rain or cloud seeding is not an adequate solution. The court has set a hearing for May 15 to discuss the case further and has directed the Uttarakhand government and petitioners to share their reports with the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) for review. The court has noted that only 0.1% of the state's wildlife cover was on fire, with 398 reported incidents and 350 cases registered.
