Philippine DFA reminds diplomats to respect host country laws after China threatens to release alleged phone call recording.
The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has reminded diplomats to respect the laws of their host country, after China threatened to release an alleged recording of a phone call between a Chinese diplomat and a ranking Filipino general. The DFA issued the reminder following reports of the Chinese Embassy in Manila releasing a transcript of a supposed telephone conversation between an unnamed Chinese diplomat and Armed Forces of the Philippines Western Command chief Vice Adm. Alberto Carlos. The Philippine defense chief, Gilberto Teodoro Jr., called for a probe into whether China violated wiretapping laws during the conversation.
