The Northern Territory (NT) aims to establish an Australian Football League (AFL) club within a decade, with a taskforce including AFL greats Andrew McLeod and Nathan Buckley. A strategic business case estimates an AFL club would create 260 jobs and provide an annual economic benefit of $116 million to the territory. The NT government is pushing for a 20th AFL licence and is considering a 20,000-capacity stadium in Darwin as the club's base.
