NDP leader Jagmeet Singh criticizes the federal Liberals for giving nearly $26 million to Costco and Loblaw for energy-efficient appliances between 2019 and 2023. The funds came from the low-carbon economy fund, meant to support projects reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The payments sparked controversy in 2019 when the government announced it would give up to $12 million to Loblaw for energy-efficient refrigerators and freezers at 370 of its stores.
