Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signs bill extending postpartum Medicaid coverage to 12 months with a reduced income threshold, affecting around 1,700 mothers and infants per month.
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a bill extending postpartum Medicaid coverage for new moms to 12 months, but with a tighter income threshold. The law, which makes Iowa one of the last states to enact the extension available under the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act, will lower the income eligibility to qualify for Medicaid from 375% to 215% of the federal poverty line, leading to around 1,700 fewer mothers and infants covered each month.
