Egypt's headline inflation rate fell to 32.5% in April from March's 33.3%, with month-on-month prices rising 1.1%. Food prices dropped 0.9% in April but were 40.5% higher than a year ago. The central bank tightened monetary policy, increasing interest rates by 600 basis points in March. Annual inflation dropped to 31.8% in April. Egypt's government allocated LE596 billion for subsidies in the 2024/2025 budget.
