Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) opens with Saoirse Ronan's film "The Outrun," based on Amy Liptrot's memoir. Ronan stars and attends the opening, alongside director Chanya Button, Liptrot, and Scottish actor Jack Lowden. The festival also introduces Thelma Schoonmaker Prize for Short Filmmaking Excellence, in partnership with renowned editor Thelma Schoonmaker.
