Canada's Housing Plan aims to build more housing, faster and cheaper, for diverse groups, including social, non-profit and co-operative housing. To do this, it has introduced new funding programs and policies, but there's still a need for a human rights approach to address housing affordability and homelessness issues. Alberta's Bill 20 plans to exempt non-profit affordable housing from property taxes to help improve the province's housing availability. Despite the efforts, the housing crisis continues to extend beyond affordability and supply challenges.
