Researchers genetically engineer marsupial cells for cane toad toxin resistance, aiming to save Australia's endangered northern quoll.
Researchers from Colossal Biosciences and the University of Melbourne have genetically engineered marsupial cells to develop resistance against cane toad toxin, a critical step towards saving Australia's endangered northern quoll. By using proprietary gene-editing tools, the teams aim to create offspring resistant to cane toad venom, which has caused a 75% decline in quoll populations since the 1930s.
