PSNI accused of routinely accessing phone data of "troublemaker" journalists by IPT.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has been accused of routinely accessing phone data of "troublemaker" journalists during a six-monthly search to see if they were in contact with officer sources, according to the Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT). The PSNI has apologized and paid damages to the journalists and the film company behind a documentary implicating them in an investigation. The IPT is also probing other instances of police surveillance against the journalists.
