Poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) detected in sewage samples from three previously infected districts in Pakistan, bringing the current year's environmental samples to 112. The virus, genetically linked to the imported YB3A cluster of WPV1, was found in sewage samples of 33 districts. The Pakistan Polio Programme conducted a mass vaccination campaign in April and continues to work on eradicating polio.
