Nigerian Senators have criticized the quality of the recently renovated Senate chamber, claiming it resembles a conference hall and lacks essential amenities such as voting devices. The cost of the renovation was over N30 billion. Senate President Godswill Akpabio acknowledged the concerns and expressed the need for the National Assembly to have autonomy over the National Assembly Complex, rather than continue as tenants of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
