Amazon to debut first electric Volvo big rig at LA/Long Beach seaport, transitioning to net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Amazon is set to debut its first of 12 electric Volvo big rigs this year, which will collect cargo from the busiest US container seaport, Los Angeles/Long Beach. The e-commerce giant has already deployed 8 of these semi-trucks at the port and aims for net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The transition to electric trucks is challenging due to larger batteries requiring intensive charging infrastructure.
