Miami police officer with history of misconduct allegations, Javier Ortiz, joins Florida State Guard led by Gov. Ron DeSantis. Ortiz, who faced numerous citizen complaints for beatings, false arrests, and harassment, joined the paramilitary organization in February. As a State Guard member, he can now be deployed to respond to natural disasters and other emergencies deemed by the governor.
