Irish government reports criticize RTE for "fictitious" accounting and lack of trust, recommending pay bands for presenters and financial caps in annual reports.
Irish national broadcaster RTE has faced criticism due to "fictitious" accounting and a lack of trust between its board and senior management, according to expert reports commissioned by the Irish Government. More than 100 recommendations have been made, including introducing pay bands for on-air presenters, publishing details of total remuneration paid and requiring RTE to include a financial or formula cap in its annual report. The government is considering reforming the funding model for public service broadcasting before the summer recess.
