Ireland's Minister for Agriculture plans to introduce regulations to ban electric dog collars in the coming months.

The regulations will not impact electric fences, but target remote-controlled electric shock collars used to control or train dogs and cats. Current owners will not be required to remove the collars, but the plan is to eventually phase out their use.
