Police officers in Edinburgh, who suffered hearing damage during violent Bonfire Night incidents, are preparing to sue Police Scotland for failing to provide adequate ear protection. At least eight officers were injured, and a further 34 reported hearing issues after being subjected to fireworks and petrol bombs. The Scottish Police Federation is working with around 20 affected officers and has received legal advice from a personal injury solicitor on their behalf.
