1 dead, 1 injured in high-rise fire near UNLV: A fire broke out in a 10-story apartment building near the UNLV campus on May 6, resulting in one fatality and another person suffering severe burns. The fire began around 5:35 a.m. at 3930 University Center Drive, and crews arrived to find moderate smoke on the fifth floor. Both victims were taken to a local emergency room, and three dogs were safely removed from the building.
