Banking & Payments Federation Ireland warns of "recovery scams" where fraud victims are targeted again by criminals pretending to recover lost money but demand upfront fees.

Fraud victims who have already been targeted are being re-targeted by criminals in "recovery scams", with the Banking & Payments Federation Ireland issuing a warning. Fraudsters, using the names and branding of well-known banks and investment firms, contact victims promising to recover their lost money, but require an upfront fee. Those aged over 50 are particularly at risk, as they may be more vulnerable ahead of retirement.
