80-year-old woman seriously injured in hatchet attack in Louth, Ireland; suspect in custody.
A man is in custody in Co Louth, Ireland, following an alleged hatchet attack on an 80-year-old woman. The elderly victim was seriously injured and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. Two other women were taken to Louth County Hospital with less serious injuries. Garda investigations into the incident are ongoing.
