74-year-old Victor Farrant, a convicted rapist and murderer, has died in prison weeks after being considered for release on compassionate grounds. Farrant was sentenced to a whole-life term in 1998 for the murder of his former girlfriend, Glenda Hoskins, and the attempted murder of Ann Fidler. Hoskins' family was informed that Farrant, who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, could have months to live before the decision to release him was made.
