A subadult fin whale, approximately 50 feet long, was discovered beached near the Indian River Inlet Bridge in Delaware on 5th May. The Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute (MERR) reported that the whale was ill with an underlying condition, but due to high water levels and rough waves, experts could not sedate it. On 6th May, MERR volunteers confirmed the whale had died, but the exact cause of death remains unknown, and an investigation is underway.
