5th generation Chelsea resident, Stacey Smith, from the Chelsea Black Community, urged the city council to change Arlington Street Extension's name back to Walnut Street. Walnut Street once played a significant role in the city's Black history, but today, much of that history is obscured. Smith's request aims to bring attention back to the important part Black families, churches, and businesses played in the area.
