TAFE NSW introduces aged care training program for high school students to address escalating skills shortage.
TAFE NSW launched an aged care training program for Year 11 high school students from Eden Marine High School and Bega High School, aiming to address the industry's escalating skills shortage. The program offers a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) as part of a TVET course, with hands-on training taking place one day a week at the TAFE NSW Bega campus and a 120-hour work placement. Recent reports predict a deficit of 110,000 or more aged care workers in the next decade and 400,000 by 2050.
