Supreme Court schedules urgent hearing on Uttarakhand forest fires, 90% man-made, on May 8.

The Supreme Court of India has scheduled an urgent hearing for May 8 on petitions related to Uttarakhand's forest fires, as 90% are reportedly man-made. The Uttarakhand government, represented by its Deputy Advocate General, will present a status report during the hearing. Since November 2022, over 900 forest fire incidents have damaged around 1,100 hectares of forest land in the state.
