Queensland's government announced a ban on engineered stone, effective from July 1st, without a transition period. This means the manufacturing, supply, and processing of the stone, dubbed "modern-day asbestos", must cease. Some businesses planned for a transition period until December 31st on the advice of the government, but with no transition arrangements, construction costs may increase and be passed onto customers.
