The Philippines' central bank has set 58 per dollar as the new level to defend for the peso, with the currency just shy of that level after a 17-month low in April. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Eli Remolona has warned of managing any unnecessary movement and excessive volatility in the currency. The recent comments by the BSP are drawing a line in the sand and supporting the peso.
