Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. categorizes Rice Tariffication Law amendments as urgent, aiming to lower rice prices.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has agreed to categorize proposed changes to the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL) as urgent, allowing the National Food Authority (NFA) to sell cheap rice again. This move follows concerns over rising rice prices and the RTL's alleged failure to reduce prices since its enactment in 2019. The proposed amendments aim to lower rice prices from the current P40-P45 to P30 per kilo by June.
