1 person died and 2 were rescued after a fire broke out at a Whampoa HDB flat on May 6. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the incident at Block 76 Lorong Limau around 2:30am, with firefighters forcing their way into the blazing sixth-floor unit. Around 200 residents were evacuated as a precaution by the police and SCDF. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
