New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon announces $1.9bn investment in law and order, including training 470 corrections officers and adding 810 prison beds in Waikato's Waikeria prison. This follows a 33% rise in violent crime and a doubling of retail crime since 2018. The plan includes $78m for rehab services for remand prisoners, with an aim to reduce victim numbers and enhance public safety.
