31 new oil and gas licences have been awarded by the UK's North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) in the southern North Sea, supporting energy security, job opportunities, and lessening UK reliance on imported, carbon-intensive gas. Part of the 33rd licensing round, the licences are expected to come online within the next five years, contributing an estimated 600 million barrels of oil equivalent up to 2060 or 545 mmboe by 2050.
