On May 6th at 1:10 am, a forklift fire occurred near a barn housing sheep in Hovingham. The North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets, rescuing all sheep inside without harm. Two fire crews attended the incident, which was resolved by 3 AM.
