2.2-magnitude earthquake reported near Charlotte airport: A 2.2-magnitude earthquake was reported near the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in southwest Charlotte overnight. The USGS detected it 9 km (5.59 miles) southeast of Belmont just before 2:45 a.m. Monday, May 6, along West Blvd. Earthquakes of this size are usually not felt but can be recorded by seismograph.
