1.85 lakh companies were registered in India during the 2023-24 fiscal year, surpassing the previous year's count. By the end of March 2024, the country had a total of 26.63 lakh registered companies, with 64% of these businesses being active. The majority of these new companies, 71%, were involved in the services sector, followed by 23% in the industrial segment and 6% in agriculture.
