1,500-1,900L diesel-laden fishing boat near Canada-U.S. border sank; man, dog rescued, Global Dive & Salvage contracted for response.

A fishing boat carrying 1,500-1,900 litres of diesel sank near the Canada-U.S. border near Victoria, leading to an oil sheen and debris in the water. A man and his dog were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after they abandoned the sinking vessel. Global Dive and Salvage, an oil spill response organization, has been contracted to mitigate the pollution threat.
