India's central bank is working to develop offline capabilities for its digital currency, according to Governor Shaktikanta Das. The Reserve Bank of India is experimenting with a digital currency backed by a central bank, aiming to make CBDC transferable in offline mode. CBDCs can drive financial inclusion and provide a safer alternative to potentially dangerous private digital currencies, Das said.
