A Department of Correction captain sustained burns and smoke inhalation after her body-worn camera caught fire at Rikers Island. In response, Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Liddie suspended all body-worn cameras throughout the department, temporarily removing nearly 3,500 devices while investigating the incident. The captain was treated at Mount Sinai Hospital and has since been released.
