33-year-old Nathan Valdez faced a standoff with law enforcement in Caney, Kansas after allegedly threatening police with a blunt object and making death threats. Authorities from the Montgomery County Emergency Response Team, Caney Police, Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies, and Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers surrounded Valdez's family's home on South Wood Street. After attempts to communicate with him, police used less-lethal gas munitions to end the standoff.
