Hazel Allen, the long-time manager of Ballymaloe House Hotel in Ireland, has died at the age of 73. Allen, daughter-in-law of renowned chef Myrtle Allen, played a significant role in the transformation of the Irish hotel industry, and co-founded the Blue Book guide to Irish country houses. She arrived at Ballymaloe in 1969 after gaining valuable experience in hotel management in Switzerland and Canada.
