Waymo plans to begin testing its driverless cars in the San Francisco Peninsula and South Bay areas within weeks. The tests will initially be available only to Waymo employees, with a view to expanding its commercial operations in the future. The autonomous vehicle company has received approval from the California Public Utilities Commission to offer its ride-hail robotaxis in 22 Peninsula cities without restrictions.
