US DoJ sues Texas Dept of Criminal Justice for religious discrimination against employee Franches Spears.

The US Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, alleging religious discrimination against employee Franches Spears. Spears, who practices the West African religion Ifa, was asked to remove her religious headscarf and was later suspended without pay and terminated. The Justice Department seeks for the TDCJ to implement lawful religious accommodation policies and compensate Spears for lost wages and other damages.
