Rutgers Health researchers study the impact of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training on correctional officers' ability to identify mental distress and support incarcerated individuals. The 7.5-hour national education program, led by Pamela Valera, aims to improve officers' mental health knowledge and attitudes. The pilot study, published in Psychological Services, evaluates officers' mental health knowledge before and after training.
