Researchers find NK cells impair cancer therapies with immune checkpoint inhibitors, potentially affecting CAR-T cell efficacy.

Researchers at the German Cancer Research Center and University Medical Center Mannheim discovered that natural killer (NK) cells can impair cancer therapies with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), and potentially cause the rapid decline of therapeutic CAR-T cells. Interventions in this NK cell mechanism could improve the efficacy of cancer immunotherapies. The study was published in Science Immunology.
